about we're trying collective

We're Trying Collective was formed in 2016 by a group of artists living and working in Muncie, Indiana. As individuals and as a team, the four friends behind WTC are interested in collaborative work across a variety of mediums that promote our community’s interests and help build a culture of inclusion and creative expression.

Our inaugural project was On the Mark, For the City, a collaborative mural project for the City of Muncie. Following the tragic events at the Orlando Pulse Nightclub in June 2016, we were inspired to work hand-in-hand with our community to create a piece of public art that would illustrate our city’s acceptance of and support for people of all backgrounds. The south wall of 306 S. Walnut Street was immediately recognized as a big, blank canvas ripe for transformation. In addition to being the perfect spot for a mural, this location is also home to the Mark III Taproom, Indiana’s oldest LGBTQ nightclub.

You can learn more about the fundraising efforts, collaborative events, and pop-up experiences that we curated leading up to the mural's completion in July 2017 by checking out the Projects and News sections of this site.
